Biografi Sugar Ray

  • MURPHY    
Murphy was born in Newport Beach, CA, on June 20th, 1967. He was raised in Orange County, CA. He is married to Julie Holland-Karges. He has three sons: Matthew Jr., Andrew and John. In 2002, Karges and his wife, with help from Sugar Ray, created the charity 'Music For A Cure.' They raise money to support music therapy programs in hospitals. To help aid the organization, Karges has organized exclusive Sugar Ray concerts and events (where ticket sales go to MFAC), as well as silent and live auctions that raise money for charitable causes. Karges' hobbies include surfing, golf and photography. He and his house were featured on an episode of MTV Cribs. He has had Golden retrievers his whole life: Kelly, Bowie and Kayla; the later two of whom can be seen on the inside sleeve of Sugar Ray's self-titled album (2001). His 1968 Dodge Charger was featured in band's issue of DUB magazine. With the band, Karges has appeared in the films Scooby-Doo and Father's Day, as well as on the television program, Las Vegas. Since 2007, he has been directing and producing for KargesMedia, which is a production company in Irvine, CA. His clients include Valvoline, Universal, EMI, Roush, Quiksilver Performance and Miracles For Kids.

  •  STAN
Stan Frazier is the drummer of rock band Sugar Ray. He was born April 23, 1968, and raised in Orange County, California. He is married to Jennifer Casinelli-Frazier. They have one daughter: Anabelle Frazier. While attending Corona del Mar High School Stan & Rodney formed a cover band inspired by the group The Jam. That band, initially called The Tories, went on to become The Shrinky Dinx, and eventually became Sugar Ray. Aside from drums- Stan also plays acoustic guitar, does background vocals, writes and produces. He has produced albums for several other artists- including Ashlee Simpson and The Dirty Heads. He wrote the chorus of Sugar Ray's "Fly" which includes a lyric about his mother's death. With the band, Stan has appeared in the films Scooby-Doo and Father's Day. As well as the TV show Las Vegas.
 
 
  • RODNEY
 raised in Newport Beach, California. His mother's name is Gloria and he has an older brother named Alan. While attending Corona del Mar High School Rodney & friends formed a cover band inspired by the group The Jam. That band, initially called The Tories, went on to become The Shrinky Dinx, and eventually became Sugar Ray.

On New Years Eve 1998 Rodney proposed to girlfriend of 9 years- Gretchen Fyke. The couple married in Newport Beach, California on June 6, 1998. They have two children: Campbell Lee (born July 7, 2000) & Charlotte Anne (born December 11, 2002).
Campbell's middle name is an homage to action star Bruce Lee. Rodney's admiration for the actor, and the entire Kung Fu genre, can be seen in his role in the video for Sugar Ray's "When It's Over" where he attempts karate with Kareem Abdul-Jabbar. Rodney's bulldog Austin (1993-2006), made a cameo appearance in almost every Sugar Ray video and can be seen in the inside sleeve of the 2001 Sugar Ray self-titled album.


  • MARK
Mark McGrath is engaged to aesthetician Carin Kingsland. They were engaged on New Year's Eve 2009 after 16 years of on-and-off dating. On April 29, 2010, the couple welcomed twins Lydon Edward and Hartley Grace.

McGrath began singing in 1992 with a band composed of his high school friends called The Shrinky Dinx (later changed to Sugar Ray). In 1994 the band signed with Atlantic Records. Their first success came in 1997 with the song "Fly".

McGrath contributed the track "Reaching Out" on Strait Up, a tribute album to late vocalist Lynn Strait, for whom he has a dedication tattoo to memorialize. He appeared in the video of "Angel's Son," another song written for the album (by Sevendust) and performed with the band during their appearance on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno. McGrath was a Champion of Rock & Roll Jeopardy! on VH1. In the Finals he won against Dave Mustaine of Megadeth and Gary Dell'Abate of The Howard Stern Show. McGrath hosted 'Don't Forget the Lyrics' in September 2010.
